If you suffer from Triskaidekaphobia – the fear or avoidance of the number thirteen – you might have some issues with this album. Thirteen is the thirteenth Soft Machine album release; the last two Soft Machine albums with numbered titles were called Six and Seven, which equals thirteen, and both were released in 1973 – note the first and last numbers of that year! The album has thirteen tracks, the longest being thirteen minutes long (they missed a trick by not including a 13-second musical interlude).
